my dog has a healthy voice but every now and again he seems to lose his voice and his bark goes very strange has anyone else ever noticed this in there dog

I have noticed this but usually when he is fighting some kind of cold. His bark will sound raspy at those times.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it was happening all the time. If it started to be frequent then I would take him to a vet to see if something might be wrong or if he would need medicine.

thanks guys that has put my mind at ease somewhat it is not a regular thing just an occasinla thing so its propbably nothing for me to worry about

My dog would get that from time to time. The vet said it was "stressed vocal cords". And that she need "rest". She sleeps 23 hours a day. Apparently that's not enough to promote the healing process.....

This hasn't happened to my dog, but it has happened to my cat. My cat now doesn't have a voice at all. My other cat had his voice go out when he was a kitten, but now it's really strong.
