I was just wondering if anyone grooms their dog at home by themselves? Other than baths and brushing I take mine to get groomed about once a year. I do cut his own nails though.

I just got a dog this year, and he's the first dog that I've had in a very long time. I take him to Petco to be groomed, because it's the cheapest and easiest place to get to from my house. He doesn't seem to mind it. Smiley

I have a yellow lab in which she recieves a bath everyweek. She has been shedding a lot lately, but i think it's because of the heat not her shampoo. The other thing lately is that she has been having a horrible odor. I even have the odor stopping shampoo that i got from petsmart. It seems to beat that wal-mart brand i had tried. I do brush her but her coat is smooth and she is short hair. The only thing i don't do is clip her nails. I bring her to petsmart or her vet does it from time to time. Her name is "Lady"

I bathe my dog about once a week. I don't take him to the groomers though, quite honestly I don't think there even is a groomers around here.

The boys both have short hair. I run a hair mitt over them and bathe them weekly. They like to patrol the house at night. Urs, the little Pomeranian, gets a weekly bath and gets trimmed twice a Summer. She sleeps with me. Poms are poofy and she gets hot with all that hair so I trim it off myself. I brush her once a week before her bath. None of them mind as they have all be taken care of like thins since they were babies. Even Taz, she was adopted as a 6 year old adult has never given me a problem. I bathed him last that first week and he put up with it.....just like th others did. I trim their nails myself on an as needed basis.

I have two rules for my bedroom:
1-Never mistreat anything that sleeps with you
2-Everything that sleeps with me must be clean.

I love the way my dog smells when she comes home from the groomers.  Plus she looks all nice, my mom gets our dog groomed every 6 months.

It's quicker and easier to do it myself. I took Urs to the groomer once and she hated it. It scared her. I can do it myself and she has a great time.
